To those of you who came to discover and experience Japanese culture this event is a must-see. It is a great excuse to get to Shimabara which boasts of streets lined with koi filled streams, quaint tea houses, foot onsen and an old samurai settlement.
Here is the official invitation:
Invitation to ”Shimabara Castle Bonfire-Noh”
In this season of late summer, we imagine you are, as ever, in good health and prosperity. Now, the annual Shimabara Castle Bonfire Noh will be held this autumn.
This is a traditional local cultural event of cooperation amongst Shimabara citizens that anyone can appreciate. This is the 35th time since we started ”Shimabara Castle Bonfire-Noh”. We are proud that we have had this event free for such a long time, which is very rare in Japan.
We would like you, especially ALTs and other foreigners, to appreciate this Japanese culture which reaches, to an extreme, the essence of these traditional performing arts, and which will be held in Shimabara Castle for better understanding of Japan. We cordially invite you to this performance, expecting that many of you will attend and enjoy.
