Nagasaki International Association

A local international association that aims to build a multicultural community in Nagasaki. They regularly hold events and lectures aimed at international exchange and their website has a wealth of helpful information for non-Japanese people living in Nagasaki.

The Dejima Network

This site contains info for and by foreigners with connections to Nagasaki. It is updated regularly with blogs and articles written in multiple languages.

The Nagazasshi

Nagasaki Prefecture’s premiere internationally focused magazine. It’s written and published by Nagasaki JET participants.

Nagasaki Official Visitor Guide

All about the interesting things to do and see in Nagasaki. This is a great resource for planning trips within the prefecture.

Hyperdia

All the train times for trains all over Japan. It is available in English and allows you to search the origin and destination as well as select departure or arrival times and dates.

Kyushu Highway Bus

This is the equivalent of hyperdia for inter-city bus travel in Kyushu.

Typhoon tracking

A useful site for Nagasaki Prefecture ALTs, as it allows you to track the progress of typhoons.

Surviving in Japan

Here you will find such a wealth of information that it would take days to go through it all. This is blog site that is specifically aimed at people who are new to Japan and/or don’t speak a lot of Japanese. However, I think there is something on there for everyone. There is a whole section of HOW TO (do an international transfer, use the air con, find medicine, get a credit card etc), and all kinds of other information about things from festivals to sweat etiquette.
