Hello everyone and welcome to September, when it finally starts to cool off. Ain’t it great? We have a few messages for you this month. Please take the time to read them as they may prove useful to you 😉

This is a busy time of year so please see where you can jump in and get involved!

Sempai Sign-up

If you are a 3rd year or above, we would like to enlist your assistance in the sempai/kohai portion of the SDC. If you are keen to offer just a little of your time and expertise to a small group of ALTs we would really like to hear from you.

First Year Volunteers

This year we are trialing an initiative where enthusiastic first years can be involved in SDC. If you have expressed an interest in assisting a sempai presenter at SDC this year then thank you! It is promising to be a goodie!!

Japanese Tests

The deadline for the December 3rd Japanese Language Proficiency Test is September 29th.

The deadline for the October 15th Kanji Kentei is September 15th.

Go get ’em!

International Festival Volunteers

If you have already signed up for this event then thank you! It is an excellent chance to promote your country and engage in conversations with local people.

Ladies Shochu Night

Have you ever tried shochu? How about spending a couple of hours on a Wednesday night chatting with new friends while sipping shochu cocktails and sampling a buffet? On November 1st such a night is being held at Saint Hill Hotel in Nagasaki City. It starts at 6:30pm and goes for two hours for the low price of 2,000 yen so you had better get in quick. For more information check this link. If it sounds like it is up your alley then please email nagasaki-sake@aria.ocn.ne.jp to secure your spot.
**This is for ladies only – gentlemen need not apply**

SDC Presenters

Thank you so much to all the ALTs that have already volunteered their time and expertise to be presenters at this year’s Skill Development Conference to be held on October 16th and 17th.

Winter Holidays

This may seem like we are jumping the gun but trust us, if you get onto planning your winter vacation now, you will save lots of time, money and stress. Accommodation books up, flights become more expensive and travel companions become few and far between. To those newbies that are still finding their feet- instigate a trip with someone or start talking to other people about their plans. Don’t end up sitting at your desk at school on Christmas Day!
