ES/JHS & SHS Discussions

In this session, you will be split into discussion groups depending on which level of school you work at. There will be groups for ES & JHS ALTs as well as groups for SHS ALTs.

What is the purpose of this discussion?

This is an opportunity to speak to people in similar work situations to yourself and allow people to hear different perspectives on working within either ES/JHS or SHS. You can share resources, tips and experiences about anything to do with working as an ALT and teaching. This discussion is meant to be free form and led by participants in the group. You can use the topics below to guide your discussion:

• Do you participate in school clubs?
• Win moments / Funny lesson stories
• How do you manage working at multiple schools?
• Have you had any recent success stories with new technology in the classroom?
• Any activities that have worked well?
• Any lesson themes that have worked well?
• Are you involved in grading students’ work, marking or making exams? How do you grade student performance?
  
• How have you built or improved your relationships with JTEs?
• How have you built relationships with other teachers outside of your English department?

Just a reminder, this is not a platform to rant for the whole time; of course, you can talk about the lows, but more importantly please address the highs. Hopefully you can get a better idea of what other people are going through at the same time as you and come away with new ideas!
