Happy spring everyone!
We hope that you got to enjoy some Hanami before all the sakura disappeared. It is such a beautiful time in Japan. We don’t have many reminders this month but take the time to read on, as the ones we do have are goodies.
Departing JETs
The time is fast approaching when departing ALTs will need to get their affairs in order. There is a guideline for wrapping up your life in Japan to move back to your home country in the After JET Guide. This information is also in the General Information Handbook. This is a general guide and you will have to tailor it to reflect your personal circumstances.
Residence Card Renewal
If the period of stay on your residence card is going to run out in August of this year then you need to start talking to your CO about the process of applying to have your period of stay renewed. It is not a particularly complex process but it will require a couple of trips to the Immigration Office, a special stamp, a photo and some money.
Golden Week
The first week of May is a very special time referred to as ‘Golden Week’. It is during this time that you may use just 2 days of nennkyu (May 1st, 2nd) to get a 9 DAY HOLIDAY. It is a busy and expensive time to travel but for those good at budgeting it is worth it for the length of time you can be gallivanting about.
Summer Vacation
I know that it seems early but now is a good time to start planning your summer escape. If you get in early enough you can snag some cheap flights and reserve nice hostels and hotels. Alternatively, why not explore Nagasaki Prefecture? We are lucky to have a plethora of island paradises and summer is the perfect time for an island escape.
