What is AJET?

AJET stands for The Association for Japanese Exchange and Teaching. It is an independent, self-supporting volunteer organization that operates at the national, regional, and local levels.

National AJET

National AJET is run by an elected committee of current JETs from around Japan. Their main purpose is to represent the opinions and concerns of the JET community to governing bodies such as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR). National AJET also runs the AJET Peer Support Group, the AJET Connect Magazine, and more. Check out their website at https://ajet.net/ for more information.

AJET Block 10

The National AJET Committee includes 11 Block Representatives who represent different areas of Japan. Nagasaki is part or Block 10, which also includes Fukuoka, Oita, and Saga. The block representative is a liaison between National AJET and the local AJET chapters. Check out the AJET block 10 Facebook page HERE for more information.

Nagasaki AJET

And now for us! Nagasaki AJET is the local AJET chapter. Nagasaki AJET took a break during COVID, and now we have decided its time to restart it’s activities. We have 3 main goals for 2024-2025:

1. Reestablish past AJET presence and events, such as the T-shirt Art Contest.

2. Run events for Nagasaki JETs to promote a sense of community and support (and have fun!)

3. Run fundraisers to fund maintenance of the Nagasaki JET website and upcoming AJET events.
