Dearest Assistant Language Teachers of Nagasaki,
Thank you all so much for making SDC such a success last month! Not only the Working Committee and the wonderful presenters, but everyone who attended brought a great attitude and positive energy to the event. We did see a few people struggling on day two, but we’re still happy people endured their sleepiness (among other things ^^) with a positive attitude. The materials from the conference are all on the 2017 SDC website, so hit it up to be inspired all over again.
We only have a few things for you this month.
Winter BreakÂ
The end of the year holidays are almost upon us! We know that many of you have planned some much deserved travels, but for those of you that haven’t- get on it! Remember to keep your Contracting Organization in the loop about where you’re going and how they can reach you should there be an emergency. Please also tell your friendly, neighborhood Area Rep in case we have to do the EAP or anything.
The deadline to accept or decline reappointment is approaching quickly! Start taking time soon to consult with friends, family, and yourself about whether or not you would like to stay on the programme past this coming August. Every year in the spring we get emails from ALTs who want to switch their decision about accepting reappointment. Save yourself a lot of stress and possibly heartbreak by thinking carefully over the next month and a half about what you would like to do. If you put it off and make the decision at the last minute, you may regret it.
59th International Speech Contest in Japanese
If you’re looking for some inspiration to drive you in your Japanese studies, consider signing up for this speech contest! For more details check the website.
That’s all for now, have a great month!
